I would caution everyone not to purchase anything from Balsam Hill for future use. I bought Santa’s Sleigh Tree Topper in January, after last Christmas, to use this Christmas season.

After two weeks of funtioning properly this December, the topper started screeching and squealing so loud that we have had to unplug it. I first emailed their customer service and then followed up with their live chat. Their position is that although it only worked for two weeks, it is past their 30 day premium warranty based on the shipping date, not the date put in service. Case # 00494512.

I looked on their website to put in an honest and critical product review. Balsam Hill is no longer selling this tree topper. Their rep told me ‘sold out’, but my suspicion is that they had so many faulty ones that they discontinued this item. This was clearly a faulty item.

They should either replace or refund.

They will not refund my $75 purchase price, which I consider the ethical thing to do for this case. Potential buyers be aware of Balsam Hill’s high price, low quality, and refusal to stand by the product they took your money for.

Reason of review: Damaged or defective.

Monetary Loss: $75.

Preferred solution: Full refund.

Balsam Hill finally contacted me to say they intend to refund 15%, but it will take a while to show on my credit card. This is helpful, but not enough for me to call the issue resolved or to change my low opinion of Balsam Hill and its merchandise.
